Job overview

Chilton Bridge School is a brand new independent special school for pupils aged 6 – 19 near Yeovil, Somerset.

We are looking to recruit a Headteacher who has a passion for supporting students who require specialist support to overcome their barriers to learning.

This exciting opportunity offers the rare chance to be part of opening of a new school in a beautiful countryside setting, with sector-leading resources and exceptional support from the Spaghetti Bridge group; the perfect balance of autonomy and influence with help and advice from experienced, child-centred professionals.

We value leaders who are able to challenge the status quo, to think creatively and are able to find new solutions to the challenges we face in education and society.

Our relational approach will be modelled by the successful candidate, who will demonstrate a compassionate, emotionally intelligent leadership style.

The group has developed a new and exciting approach to curriculum and learning and will provide a detailed framework re. policies and typical ways of working but the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute towards our ongoing development, to refine our model and to ‘put their stamp’ onto Chilton Bridge School.

The school will support children with additional barriers to learning through needs associated with SEMH and ASC . Young people will attend on a day basis, the school also has the potential to develop onsite residential provision.  A prior knowledge of residential practices will be helpful but detailed specialist support and training will be provided. The residential provision will be led by an experienced leadership team, who will report directly to the Principal.

We are strongly committed to providing high quality professional development for all our staff. As part of a growing group, we will be able to offer significant opportunities to work in collaboration with colleagues from across the group in order to develop innovative practice.

The wellbeing of our staff is an important priority therefore we provide opportunities to ensure we value their hard work and dedication and promote a healthy work-life balance.

We are constantly reviewing our practices to ensure that our staff can focus on what matters: providing a rich environment in which children and young adults can learn and thrive.
