Kensington and Chelsea

Job overview

Nestled in the heart of a bustling, central London community, Notting Hill Prep (NHP) is a truly special place which provides a nurturing and happy environment for its young students (aged 4-13).

Founded in 2003, the School is now spread across three sites and has become one of the most successful co-educational schools in the city. As a Thinking School, NHP aims to educate children in the truest sense of the word - to light a fire, not simply fill a bucket. There is a committed and passionate staff that work together to fulfil this goal and the ethos is one where children are able to express their own views, take risks and build a set of habits which will allow them to flourish into their future.

After 16 years of dedicated service to the School the inaugural Headmistress, Jane Cameron is retiring and the Governors are now looking to appoint her successor. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an established, well-regarded school and build on the defining ethos that is already embedded. There is an appetite for the new Head to provide strategic leadership and to further develop NHP’s academic provision, as well as the quality of teaching and learning throughout the School. The next Head will be intellectually engaged with the theory of education and have a true passion for the teaching of children in different and imaginative ways.

Ideal candidates will have relevant and current experience of school leadership, most likely in a Senior Leadership Team role. They will need to demonstrate and deliver a vision for the School and be able to manage a highly able and motivated staff. It would be beneficial for candidates to have previous experience of working within a competitive, urban setting.
