Job overview

Contract type: 0.5 – Full Time, flexible to be negotiated.

Kettleshulme St James CE (VA) Primary is situated within the beautiful Peak District National Park. We are a smaller than average Primary School and an intrinsic part of the Kettleshulme village community. Our School is friendly and welcoming and has been judged to be ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, the children and the governing body wish to appoint a new school leader. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for the right person. The location of our School means that the role will be both challenging and rewarding in equal measures.

We are a passionate team seeking to recruit an inspirational Headteacher to help us maintain and further develop our ethos of “Life in all its Fullness”. Our Christian distinctiveness demonstrated through the values of “Acceptance, Love and Forgiveness” underpin our day-to-day learning, teaching and relationships.

Our experienced staff thrive on challenge, innovation and creativity whilst having clear and rigorous systems in place to ensure that children’s learning remains at the centre of our School vision. Excellent behaviour-for-learning and attitudes to school ensure that our School is harmonious, child-centred and a positive place to teach and learn. Kettleshulme St James Primary School is an exciting place to be with an already strong reputation.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • provide strong strategic leadership to drive school improvement, whilst respecting and nurturing the existing talent of our experienced teaching staff;
  • show financial awareness and appreciates the importance of marketing for a small rural school;
  • demonstrate a clear vision and enthusiasm to take the School forward;
  • demonstrate dynamism and can bring their own flair and experience to the role;
  • ensure continuity whilst seeking to further extend and develop teaching and learning;
  • demonstrate strong leadership experience to maintain and develop the School’s attainment and progress both academically and socially;
  • communicate, develop and immerse themselves into our School and wider community.

We can offer

  • a school whose children make us proud: they enjoy coming to school, are inquisitive and well-behaved;
  • a creative and developed curriculum;
  • a welcoming all-inclusive Christian ethos;
  • a highly experienced and professional staff;
  • a committed and supportive governing body;
  • a supportive parent body.
