Job overview

Due to the impending retirement of our current Headteacher, Mr D. Callagher, the Governing Body of Christ the King Catholic High School wish to appoint a practising Catholic Headteacher with a strong personal faith with the vision and leadership to build and develop our strength as a high performing Catholic School.

Christ the King Catholic High School is a popular, oversubscribed and successful school with an outstanding pastoral team and exceptionally low staff turnover.  We are proud of our students and staff, our fully inclusive ethos and our broad and balanced curriculum which offers our students a wide range of enrichment opportunities to develop each individual as the whole person.

This school was rated as ‘Good’ in our last Section 5 inspection and ‘Outstanding’ in our last Section 48 Inspection. Therefore, we seek a proactive Headteacher who will lead the school to Outstanding at its next inspection.

Christ the King’s Mission Statement: ‘Love one another as I have loved you’ is at the core of who we are.  This is lived out daily through ‘THE CTK WAY’ which is inspired by the Ignatian virtues and is demonstrated by the students’ enthusiasm for learning and in the pride they take in being part of Christ the King and its community.  The new Headteacher must maintain the unique identity of Christ the King whilst also inspiring confidence in the strategic future development of the school’s involvement in the future Lancaster Diocese Multi-Academy Trust process.

Our teachers and wider pastoral team are talented and dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for our children and strive to develop their own knowledge and further learning to further enhance meaningful opportunities for our students.

As Headteacher you will be a highly visible leader and the public face of the school. This role provides an exciting and unique opportunity for a person with strong senior leadership experience wishing to develop their career and to lead our ‘small school with a big heart’ on to truly great things.

For further information about the school please visit www.ctk.lancs.sch.uk

Shortlisting will take place on Monday 31 January 2022 with proposed interview dates of Monday 28 February and Tuesday 01 March 2022.

Visits to the school are encouraged – please contact Mrs Andrea Leaver on aleaver@ctk.lancs.sch.uk or 01772 252072.
