Job overview

It takes a rare talent to bring together an infant and a junior school to create an outstanding example of education for everyone. But if you have what it takes, you can expect a truly career-defining experience with us.

Following recent changes in leadership at both Torridon Infant and Junior Schools, we’ve decided that working together is the best way forward for our children. In April, the Mayor of Lewisham will determine whether we should become a single phase primary school. You’ll lead us on the next exciting stage of our journey.

What you can expect

The moment you set foot in our schools, you’ll see what we’re all about. We’re two large local schools in south-east London that take real pride in providing a welcoming and nurturing environment for an incredibly diverse range of children. Put simply, we live and breathe inclusion. And that extends to our highly regarded specialist services for children with SEND and ASD – a real beacon of success in the borough.

Like many schools, we have our challenges. But you’ll certainly have a lot to work with. Our infant school already has an outstanding Ofsted rating. One of your first tasks will be to raise attainment at Key Stage 2, where our results have dropped below the national average. In all you do, you can count on the support of a great team and a strong, committed board of governors. And, of course, you’ll be inspired by our children. They’re well behaved, energetic and enterprising – a real joy to teach.

Who we’re looking for

First and foremost, we’re looking for a proven Headteacher who has a real flair for driving transformation. Your fresh ideas, emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership style will set an inspiring example, as we work together to create the next chapter in our history.

If you’re ready to make your vision for primary education a reality, please get in touch. We’d love you to visit our schools. Our current Acting and Interim Heads will show you around personally and answer all of your questions.

Visits to the Infant and Junior schools are welcomed and encouraged prior to application.

To arrange a visit and to request an application form, please call the Infant School Business Manager on 020 8698 5822 or email sbm@torridoninfants.lewisham.sch.uk.
