Job overview

Due to the amalgamation of Cheynes Infant School and Sundon Park Junior School, the Governors of Cheynes are seeking to appoint a Head teacher for the newly created Primary School effective 1st September 2019.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to lead the creation of the new primary and bring together two schools. Each of the schools are rated differently by Ofsted, are at different stages of development and are and will remain on different sites.

We want our new Head teacher to work with the Governing Body and Staff and share our commitment for:

  • Academic excellence, continuous improvement and innovation
  • Making a positive difference to the lives of children
  • Promote consistent high-quality teaching and learning
  • Working with parents, community and other schools


The role will require you to:

  • Work with both leadership teams to integrate the school and manage the integration of two budgets into one.
  • Motivate, lead and develop a cohesive and united staff team
  • Consolidate best working practices from both schools into one
  • Improve the standards across all key stages


We are looking for someone who:

  • Is able to demonstrate the ability to deliver our requirements
  • Has the ability to promote excellent standards of teaching and learning
  • Has a clear strategic vision for raising standards through strong and effective leadership and management
  • Has a proven track record of securing high levels of pupil progress across KS1 and KS2
  • Has the commitment to ensure the school is a safe place where every child succeeds and is valued as an individual
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the continuous professional development of all staff.
  • Is ambitious for themselves and the school they work in and keen to work in partnership with others
  • Is able to build strong relationships with the community
