Job overview

We, the Trust board, Governors, staff and students of St Paul’s Catholic High School, are seeking to appoint a highly ambitious school leader for our school with effect from 1st September 2017 to lead the school in the next phase of its journey to good and outstanding within the context of a Multi Academy Trust.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced Catholic Leader who is highly skilled and passionate about building on the progress already being made in a rapidly improving school that is currently judged to be requiring improvement. Our new Headteacher will have a visible and strong leadership presence, with a clear vision for what makes a school successful.

St Paul’s Catholic High School is a member of the Wythenshawe Catholic Academy Trust and a strategic partner in the Romero Teaching School Alliance based at All Hallows Catholic College in Macclesfield. These partnerships provide outstanding opportunities for teaching and leadership development and also provide a rich source of support with school improvement.

In our new Headteacher we are looking for someone who:

  • Is a practising Catholic with an active commitment to their faith.
  • Has the presence and credibility to lead teams and individuals by being a strong role model.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate all stakeholders to raise standards.
  • Is able to translate their vision into agreed objectives and operational plans that secure and sustain school improvement.
  • Is committed to developing strong partnerships within the Trust and the wider community.

In return we can offer:

  • A forward thinking dynamic working environment with ambitious plans for the future.
  • Exceptional facilities for learning, including state of the art facilities and a strong commitment to pedagogical reflection.
  • A skilful and well-informed Trust and a Governing body who will work in partnership with you
  • A school that has taken positive steps in response to being judged ‘Requires Improvement’ and which has the full support of Staff, Governors, the Trust and Diocesan Education Commission.
  • A location set within easy reach of the City of Manchester and Manchester Airport, and which has excellent transport links to the many surrounding urban and rural areas.

If you are highly ambitious and have the skills to lead our school on the next stage of its journey we would love to hear from you.

Application forms, further details and an information pack are available from the advert.

Visits to our school from potential applicants are encouraged; you will be warmly welcomed. Please telephone Angela Holland on 0161 493 2850 or email headspa@st-paulshigh.net for an informal telephone conversation or to arrange a visit.

Values and Vision

St Paul's uses the mission statement "Journeying together with Jesus Christ, we learn to love and love to learn". It aims to educate the whole child, forming their character by teaching values and virtues as much as knowledge and skills. The school has strong links with a number of local schools, its fellow WCAT schools and the Manchester Catholic Education Partnership.

The school takes pride in its modern Catholic ethos, its passion for teaching and its community atmosphere.
