Job overview

Bradwell Village School is a three form entry, Ofsted Good, mixed junior school with 315 pupils on roll, serving primarily the Bradwell Village and Heelands districts of Milton Keynes. It is a diverse school with 54% of pupils non White British and 25% from families whose first language is not English and also an inclusive school, in which all pupils have good attitudes to learning and make good progress. The school is proud of its ethos of continuous improvement and this is evidenced in the excellent Key Stage 2 SAT results at the end of 2016, which suggest it is well placed to move to Outstanding.

Interim leadership arrangements are currently in place for the school year 2016/17 following the retirement of the school’s Headteacher of 15 years.

The Governing Body are now looking to appoint a substantive Headteacher, who shares their ambitions for their children and their school, to take up post in September 2017 and to:

  • provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school and continue the school’s journey to Outstanding
  • ensure ambitious standards are set for all pupils that overcome disadvantage and advance equality
  • draw on the richness and diversity within the school community to contribute to our well-developed creative curriculum
  • develop innovative ways to engage with parents and stakeholders to position the school at the heart of its community

You are a Headteacher or an ambitious Deputy with significant senior leadership experience gained in a junior, primary or middle school setting. You have the skills, experience and commitment required to establish, with the Governing Body, a compelling vision and direction for the school that will underpin its journey to Outstanding. You are an innovative and strategic leader who has a track record of achievement, coupled with a deep understanding of curriculum development and teaching and learning. You have the vision and dynamism to continually raise the bar and set demanding new challenges as well as the inspirational communication and leadership skills to elicit the commitment of staff, students and the community as a whole. You have the single mindedness to lead a large school and further develop the capability of a high performing team and the interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with our feeder infant schools and the secondary schools we feed.

In return for your energy, integrity and enthusiasm, we offer you the opportunity to further develop a school that strives for excellence and provides a caring environment where every child matters. Our well-developed creative curriculum aims to make learning fun, exciting and challenging to ensure that all our pupils leave us with fond memories and the skills to tackle the demands of secondary education. You will work alongside a committed and high performing staff team and a governing body that champions inclusivity, is committed to achieving excellence in educational delivery and student attainment and is passionate about developing the communities it serves.
