Job overview
This is a rare opportunity to lead a unique, successful and oversubscribed School (a single academy trust for students ages 11 – 18 housed in PFI buildings) in idyllic rural Norfolk on the outskirts of the city of Norwich. Due to the retirement of our much-respected Headteacher, we are seeking to appoint an exceptional leader who will continue to put our School at the heart of its community and our students at the centre of all that we do. You will be passionate about building on the strengths of our School and have a clear vision to further inspire and empower our students, staff, parents, and the local community to take Taverham High School to its next phase, including ‘Outstanding’ at Ofsted.
We are seeking to appoint a leader with a proven track record of senior leadership success and with the calibre and determination to continue to champion our vision, which is: “To create a learning environment within which every individual can realise their full potential, develop self-respect, respect for others and to prepare themselves for life in a changing world.” You will be aiming to further the School’s key priorities of:
• Developing an exceptional curriculum underpinned by traditional values and a forward-thinking approach to embracing new technologies and developments;
• Maintaining strong and successful relationships between students, staff, parents/carers and the wider school community, based on mutual respect and a commitment to high expectations and challenge;
• Offering high quality care, guidance and support through its excellent pastoral team to create an environment where all members of the School community are able to thrive and exceed expectations.
Applicants should have a thorough understanding of recent and impending changes to educational policy and qualifications. Applicants should also demonstrate an understanding that, as well as Headteacher, they will be expected to undertake the role of CEO for our single academy trust.
Candidates are encouraged to visit our School for a tour and meet our retiring Headteacher, Carol Dallas during the application process. Please contact Mrs C Ross, PA to the Headteacher on 01603 860505 / 861756 to make an appointment or by email - c_ross@taverhamhigh.org
Face-to-face interviews will be held over three days from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 February 2021.

Values and Vision
Taverham High School believes every student should follow their dreams and have respect for themselves as well as everyone in the school. The academy aims to set every pupil up for life outside of school by providing them with the life-long skills that they need. Students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities. The aim of this is to make sure they are able to work as a team. The curriculum is one that is enriching and stimulating for all pupils. Teachers show the children that there are several paths to getting ahead in life, from going to university or finding the perfect apprenticeship.
Ofsted report
“Overall standards achieved by pupils remain above average. Achievement is exceptionally high in mathematics, English literature and some sciences. Pupils excel in music, French and business studies. We found that the school’s caring, nurturing ethos and culture of high achievement is based firmly on the excellent relations promoted between pupils and staff. Pupils told us that teachers are approachable, know them well and are always there to offer help and support. They value this highly; praising the sense of community it creates and enabling them to feel totally safe, secure and generally free from bullying in the school.”
