Headteacher

Gaywood Primary School (part of West Norfolk Academies Trust)

Start date: January 2018 (or sooner by agreement)

Salary: Competitive to attract the best

Closing date for applications: Thursday 6 July 2017

The collective ambition at Gaywood Primary School is that every child is given the opportunity to grow academically, socially and creatively, leaving primary school as the very best version of themselves, ready to take on the excitement of secondary school. With this in mind, colleagues are now looking forward to welcoming an inspirational and committed Headteacher to lead Gaywood Primary School, as the school embarks on the next stage in its development as part of West Norfolk Academies Trust.

Gaywood Primary School is a larger than average, happy 4 – 11 school with over 400 pupils on roll, located in the popular market town of King’s Lynn. Having recently joined West Norfolk Academies Trust (WNAT), the school is at an exciting stage in its journey and poised to achieve further success as part of a growing and effective multi-academy trust.

Having been judged as good by Ofsted in 2016, Gaywood Primary School has achieved much in the recent years. As such, we are now looking to build further upon this success, with a motivated, passionate and inspirational leader joining our team.

You will be an ambassador for the school, with the ability to work with parents, carers and families from across our broad demographic. You will be a forward-thinking leader with a successful track record in success and achievement. A strong understanding and knowledge of recent changes to the primary education agenda and how to effectively respond to these without compromising educational standards is key. In addition to this, you will be a team player, able to work collaboratively both with the team at Gaywood Primary and across the wider Trust.

Whether you are a current Head of School or Headteacher looking for an exciting new opportunity to grow within a successful Trust, or a Deputy Head eager for your first whole school leadership position, what is clear is that you will have a relentless drive and commitment to developing the whole child.

We are a well-resourced, two form entry school situated in King’s Lynn and at present, there are 417 children on roll from the age of four to eleven years. We have fantastic facilities including a large field, playgrounds, library, music rooms and classrooms with working walls and corridors with wall art that supports children's learning.

Our EYFS outdoor area is stunning and vibrant supporting our youngest children in developing the whole child and our library is stocked with the latest books to tempt and inspire our young children to love reading.

We welcome visitors and are happy to show you around our amazing facilities.

We work collaboratively as a Trust and have developed a curriculum that is carefully sequenced and supported by planning and resources.   It is a knowledge rich curriculum which aims to promote excellent outcomes alongside developing pupils; resilience and confidence.  Our English curriculum is modelled on Talk 4 Reading and Talk 4 Writing and we teach maths mastery.  The curriculum is supported by subject specialists within the school and across the trust.

Wellbeing and work/life balance is important to us and working collaboratively as a school and trust supports this.

If you are passionate about children achieving their potential and want to be part of our team then call for an informal chat with the Headteacher.
