Job overview
Starbeck School is situated on the outskirts of the beautiful spa town of Harrogate and is in close reach of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North Yorkshire Moors, Pennines and Lake District.
At Starbeck School we aim to provide our children with memorable and powerful learning experiences and promote an ethos of self-belief, respect, resilience and high expectations for ourselves and others in everything we learn and achieve. As an enhanced mainstream school for social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), we strive to provide an inclusive, caring and supportive environment in which pupils are valued equally and are given opportunities to develop and to reach aspirational targets.
Welcoming, happy and friendly, we have excellent links with the local community and children with improving attitudes to and behaviours for learning. We have a committed and experienced staff, a thriving and supportive PTA and a recently reconstituted governing body focused on providing support to the school.
The latest Ofsted inspection (April 2017) rated the school as requiring Special Measures and we will become an Academy in the near future. However, since then, we have made significant improvements to teaching, learning and assessment and to leadership and management. We are looking for a leader with the vision, skills and experience to build on these improvements and continue the good work to raise standards.
We seek a strong leader with proven management, communication and decision-making skills, whose overarching aim is to drive school improvement whilst working with governors in preparation for academisation.
Clearly, there are significant challenges ahead and you will need the vision, resilience and ability to set and achieve meaningful goals.
You must also have the presence and confidence to actively engage with all stakeholders, support and develop staff, build networks and develop good working relationships with external organisations.
In addition, your ability to analyse, interpret and report on data and manage budgets will be essential to your success.
If this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you.
We very much welcome school visits. If you’d like the opportunity to visit, please contact the school office on 01423 884780 or email: admin@starbeck.n-yorks.sch.uk
