Job overview

“Pupils from all backgrounds thrive in this inclusive school” Ofsted, 2017

An exciting opportunity at a unique school.

St Christopher’s CE Primary School is situated in the heart of Temple Cowley in the vibrant area of East Oxford. We are a 2-form entry primary school, including our own nursery for 3 and 4-year olds. We have nearly 430 children altogether, taught in modern classrooms surrounded by our large field and new Forest School site.

We serve our multi-cultural community by providing a creative and exciting curriculum that incorporates cultural and religious diversity, within the context of Christian belief and practice. The core Christian values of “Love, Courage and Belonging” are at the centre of everything that we do whilst celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of our children.

We strive to provide the children with stimulating learning experiences that will help them make progress and achieve their best. Our children enjoy an unusually diverse range of learning activities, with as much learning as possible outside.

The school became an Academy in February 2014, with the Diocese of Oxford as its sponsor, as part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust multi-academy trust.

Our school motto is “Learning & Growing Together” and this sums up our aim - to ensure that every single child leaves our school with the confidence and ambition to succeed.

Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, we are looking for an inspirational leader.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Will have the vision and skills to build on the existing strengths in the school and be able to grasp the opportunities that will continue to enable every pupil to achieve their full potential.
  • Can work effectively, leading our enthusiastic team and be a role model for pupils, staff and parents, doing this with energy, humour and care for all members of our school community.
  • Is resilient and able to deal with the complexity and challenge of an Oxford City school.

We can offer you:

  • Professional support from the central ODST team.
  • A dedicated school staff team.
  • Programme of professional support and development.
  • A spacious Oxford City school site.
  • Excellent transport links to London and Birmingham.
