Job overview

The British International School of Wroclaw was founded in September 2006, upon an invitation from the Wroclaw City Council to provide an English-medium education to the growing expatriate community. We are a sister school to the British International School of Cracow, founded in 1995. Our students, aged 5 – 18, come from all corners of the globe, with a large proportion from Korea. Our small classes provide a supportive, welcoming and educationally challenging environment for pupils and staff. We are registered with Cambridge International Exams (CIE) and International Schools Assessment (ISA). We are also members of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

Visions and value

We aim to help our students become lifelong learners and to teach them to be global citizens. We strive to provide a broad and stimulating curriculum and environment and to instil a sense of racial and cultural harmony throughout the school. The main values we promote are independence without selfishness, inner strength with compassion and a tolerant, open-minded attitude.

Our educational programme is based on the English National Curriculum, with English being the language of instruction. We also have a small Polish section (comprising approximately10% of the student roll), where the language of instruction is Polish. In Key Stage One, a holistic educational programme is used to teach the pupils. After that, the core subjects of literacy, maths and science are emphasised alongside music, art, PE, computing and foreign languages.

Options are taken by all students in Year 9, preparing them for IGCSE exams in Year 11 and A-levels in Year 13. We offer a wealth of extra-curricular activities after school, including music, art and sports amongst others. English as an Additional Language (EAL) is taught to pupils who have a low level of English at the time of enrolment.

We pride ourselves on hiring professional, fully qualified international and Polish staff, who are just as enthusiastic about teaching as they are about learning and growing in their roles.

Due to health issues, our Headteacher has had to resign and therefore we are now looking for a new, inspirational Headteacher to lead our school forward from August 30th 2019. Candidates should be fully qualified, preferably with experience in both British and international schools and also in managerial roles.

Please visit our website to learn more about us: http://bisc.wroclaw.pl .

Letters of application and CV should be sent to: Andy Harris, Co-owner, at andy.harris@bisc.krakow.pl and Wendy Murphy, Co-owner, at wendy.murphy@bisc.krakow.pl

Closing Date for applications: 15th August 2021
