St John’s Church of England Primary School is an outstanding two-form entry school in the Newtown area of Reading. Our school is part of the Berkshire Schools Trust. We strive to serve the local community by working with each and every child to help sustain progress academically, socially and emotionally. We want to appoint a Headteacher who will continue to develop the vision for St John’s.

Our new school leader will be able to:

• Create a strong community of leaders, enabling staff to have shared ownership of pupil and curriculum development.
• Support and challenge our children so they enjoy all areas of learning.
• Develop children to have the emotional strength and tools to sustain who they are to the best of their ability.
• Develop the skills of friendship across the school community, giving staff and children the confidence to relate and offer friendship to everybody.
• Recruit, develop and mentor staff who will encourage us along with our vision.
• Recognise the importance of community through school participation in a wide range of activities.
• Understand and be willing to take advantage of the unique relationship the school has with the parish church.
• Develop relationships with our parents through accessible and transparent interactions.
