About Meanwood Community Primary School

Mission Statement

Meanwood is a family, who work together to extend and nurture all skills and talents. We aim to develop children who think for themselves and whose actions reflect their belief in and understanding of, the principles of, love, respect, tolerance, truth and honesty.

Meanwood Nursery and Primary is a larger than average split-site Primary School. Foundation and Key Stage 1 are based in a building constructed in 1992. Key Stage 2 is based on the opposite side of the road in a building opened in 1902. A newly-built Sure Start Children’s Centre adjoining the Nursery opened in April 2008.

Key aims:

• To strive for ‘excellence and enjoyment’ in all that we offer.

• To provide the stability and support of a good family.

• To create a climate where all children can achieve their full potential.

• To encourage children to think for themselves and make decisions.

• To feel confident in expressing their opinions, thoughts and feelings.

• To develop positive attitudes towards learning.

• To guide children towards an understanding of their place in the world and how they can contribute towards it.
