Job overview

Saint Pius X Catholic High School first opened its doors to students on September 16th 1957. Much has changed in education since then but we remain a Catholic school serving families in the parishes of the Dearne Valley.

We are a popular and oversubscribed 11 – 16 Catholic Voluntary Aided school and we welcome students of all faiths and denominations with a desire to learn in a caring, Christian community. Many parents and students tell us they that they feel supported and cared for here. As a smaller secondary school we certainly have a close, community atmosphere. We are also proud of the academic achievements of our students with, once again, good progress being made by our students in 2015, which is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.

Could this be your next step?

We require an inspirational and visionary leader who is a practising and committed Catholic and can contribute to our vision of Catholic education which has faith at the centre of our school community.

Do you want to make a difference?

We are looking to appoint a leader able to motivate, inspire, support and develop talent of both students and staff to create a vibrant and progressive school, coordinating our journey from GOOD to OUTSTANDING.

Are you the leader we are looking for?

Our whole school needs a leader who is able to work empathetically, holistically and with high expectations so that every student can achieve their full potential within a truly comprehensive education. We want a good communicator who will nurture and develop strong working relationships.

If so…

We can offer you:

  • A small, friendly, welcoming school.
  • Well-mannered students with positive attitude to learning
  • A strong supportive staff team
  • Committed and supportive governors
  • Good learning community links

Students say that they feel well cared for and that adults provide them with the support and guidance they need. (OFSTED 2014)

This is a school which successfully promotes students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through a rich and varied range of activities within and beyond the daily curriculum. (OFSTED 2014)

We warmly invite candidates to come and visit us. Please contact Sharon Graham on 01709 767901 or SGraham@saintpiusx.school to make arrangements.

All applications to be sent to Mr. K. Barry, Chair of Governors, St Pius X Catholic High School, Wath Wood Rd, Wath upon Dearne, Rotherham, S63 7PQ

Closing date: 12 Noon Tuesday 11th October 2016
Shortlisting date: Wednesday 12th October 2016

Opened in 1957, Saint Pius X Catholic High School is located in the city of Rotherham, South Yorkshire. A co-educational school with around 650 pupils aged 11-16, Saint Pius is smaller than the average secondary school of its type. Although the vast majority of teaching occurs on-site, the school does make some use of off-site provision for pupils studying particular subjects or with particular needs. A voluntary-aided school, it has close links to the Diocese of Hallam, but ultimate responsibility for maintaining the school lies with the Local Authority.

Values and Vision

As a Roman Catholic school, Saint Pius X works hard to impress upon its students a number of traditional Christian values. These include a strong sense of pride in their community and the desire to work together towards the common good, as well as a sense of acceptance and tolerance towards those from different backgrounds of with different belief systems. The school’s admission policy does, however, prioritise those from a Catholic background, although followers of all faiths are welcome to apply to the school.

Ofsted

“Many students make good progress as they move through the school. The proportion of students across all year groups making better than expected progress is rising as a result of good and better teaching. Students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is well promoted. The school’s work to keep children safe is good. Students say they feel safe and enjoy coming to school.”
