Introduction

Compass Associates are proud to be working on a retained basis with Kisimul Group, whom of which are a leading and award winning provider of high quality Specialist Residential services for children, with a remit to recruit a Headteacher in the Surrey region.

Overview

The Headteacher will have the pleasure of leading a large and traditionally modern Specialist Residential provision for children aged between 8 -16 years old with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autism and Challenging Behaviour. As the Headteacher, you will be accountable for overseeing the strategic development of the education programs provided across the site. Leading a very capable and experienced team, and working in collaboration with the Senior Management Team, you will be monitoring, assessing and implementing new procedures to raise standards and increase the overall performance of the pupils. You will develop and mentor the staffing team and recognise training requirements to maintain high performance ratings. This Specialist Residential School has a deserved reputation for ensuring positive outcomes for complex learners, who have often used their challenging behaviour as a basis for communication prior to placement. Through detailed multi-disciplinary assessment, and using evidence based teaching approaches, our client strives to get young people re-engaged with learning.

Requirements 

  • Successful Headship within a Specialist School (Specifically within Learning Disability and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder) 
  • Qualified Teacher status & NPQH is desirable 
  • Extensive Knowledge of OFSTED and their inspection process 
  • Previous experience of motivating and managing challenging students 
  • Performance management and strategic planning
  • Strong communication and self management skills

Interview Process

Kisimul Group will be looking to run this process across 2 stages, which will initially begin with an informal conversation and tour of the provision with the Director of Education. The second stage will be a formal interview, presentation and further tour of the provision.

Summary

Successful applicants must hold an accredited formal Teaching Qualification. Knowledge of all/some of the following is desirable: Teaching and Learning for pupils with Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviour and/or ASD, National Curriculum/Accreditation, SEN pedagogy & Safeguarding. In return, my client is looking at offering a salary between £65,000 - £75,000 p/a
