A fantastic opportunity for either a current leader or an outstanding teacher with demonstrable leadership potential, to guide the school on its journey to outstanding.

Phoenix School is the education provision for adolescent in-patients at Cygnet hospital Sheffield, and is a specialist provider for young people who are suffering from severe and/or complex mental health conditions. The maximum capacity of the school is 25, and the young people stay for an average period 42 days. Class sizes range from between 1-7 students.

Registered with the department for education in summer 2016, Phoenix school went through a full OFSTED inspection within its first year, achieving ‘Good’ overall, with ‘Outstanding’ in personal development, behaviour and welfare. Inspectors were impressed by the ‘calm and purposeful atmosphere’ in the school, putting this down to the ‘trusting relationships’ built between staff and students.

We are looking to appoint a candidate with a proven track record of outstanding classroom practice who is able to maintain the high expectations and challenge of all staff and students. You will bring passion, vision and creativity to developing and delivering high quality education at the school and have to people skills to manage a talented, committed and motivated staff team. Depending on the candidate, the post holder can be offered mentoring, support and training to help them fulfil this role.
