Job overview

Fir Vale High School is a dynamic, ambitious, culturally diverse and inclusive 11-16 converter academy in Sheffield with 1050 on roll. The school was graded as Good in 2015. It has an excellent reputation, is very popular with parents/carers and is hugely respected in the local community and beyond. With the current post holder leaving to take up fresh educational challenges it is now seeking to appoint a new Headteacher to build on its many strengths and to provide the whole school community with the strategic vision and direction that will ensure it provides its students with an outstanding education, giving them the very best start in life.

The school is located in modern and bright premises that provide a motivating learning environment. It has enjoyed great success in recent years built on a commitment to mutual tolerance and respect, consistently high expectations and high quality teaching and learning. The school is a racially harmonious community and achieves excellent outcomes with value added scores last year in the top 10% of schools nationally.

The school’s greatest asset is its committed, talented and motivated staff and there is a tangible desire among them to do the very best for the students. Staff are proud of the school’s success but are ambitious for it to improve further. They are committed to their own professional development and are ready to work with the new Headteacher to secure the best outcomes. It is this team ethos and commitment to learning that will provide the solid platform for success.

This is an exciting time for the school and the Governing Body are looking to appoint a new Headteacher who shares their excitement and who can harness the school’s many strengths, leading it to a confident and successful future. Governors have seen the school benefit from strong partnership working and are committed to working with the new Headteacher to develop this further and to shape the strategic direction of the school.

You must be an experienced senior leader in a secondary setting, with a successful track record of sustained improvement and a determination to maximise the opportunities available.
