Highfield CE Primary are seeking a Headteacher who:

  • Has experience of Deputy Headship/Assistant Head Teacher/Head of School or Acting Headship /Headship in Primary (EY/KS1 or KS2
  • Has experience in more than one school
  • Is committed to upholding the ethos and values of Highfield Church of England Primary School
  • Is committed to meeting the needs of all learners regardless of ability or background
  • Must be prepared to embrace the Christian ethos and committed to providing acts of distinctively Christian worship that have integrity
  • Committed to enabling others to find and fulfil their unlimited potential
  • Can use a range of evidence, including performance data, to support, monitor, evaluate and improve aspects of school life, including challenging poor performance.

Who we are looking for:

The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader who is dedicated to bringing out the best in both pupils and staff, through harnessing Highfield’s unique Christian ethos and values. They will be a qualified teacher and will have already held a senior leadership position in a primary school for several years. 

Our new Headteacher will have a vision for Highfield’s future and the ambition to always achieve beyond expectations. They will be a highly effective communicator, capable of engaging individuals or large audiences, in private or in public, and will inspire with their own classroom practice and enthusiasm for learning. 

It is also essential that these people-centred skills are combined with a strategic vision for progress, so that the high standards and Christian values of the school are maintained. While the progress and achievements of Highfield School are consistently good, we are looking for a Headteacher who will continue to drive our vision and ensure success for each and every child. Part of this skillset will involve an understanding of the systems and processes that keep a school running, and the ability to know when to delegate to the team and when to take the lead. 

Finally it is important to our school community that the personal attributes of our new Headteacher align with the Christian culture and ethos of our school. Our Headteacher should be at the centre of everything in our school, known to all and always ready to give time and care to any member of the school community, whoever they may be. Their presence should inspire confidence and trust, and the kindness that we have put at the centre of our school should shine from our new Headteacher like a beacon. 

The Contract of Employment between the Governing Body and the Headteacher will be the current contract of Employment for a Headteacher. The job description can be amended at any time, following consultation between the Headteacher and the Governing Body and will be reviewed annually.

The Headteacher is an employee of the Governing Body and is required to carry out their professional duties in accordance with the terms and conditions of the current School Teacher’s Pay and Conditions document, the National Standards of Excellence for Headteachers (2020), and relevant employment legislation.
