Job overview

Are you an experienced Headteacher looking for a new opportunity?  Do you have energy, vision and a passion for education?  Could you be the right person to steer our highly successful school through a rapidly changing context?

The Governors of Michael Faraday Primary School are looking to appoint a motivated and inspirational headteacher with proven leadership experience to work with stakeholders, including our committed and passionate team of staff.

Our long-serving Headteacher is retiring, creating a fantastic opportunity for the right person to lead our inspiring, inclusive and well-resourced school into the future.

Michael Faraday Primary School is a popular, over-subscribed, two-form entry Community School situated in an award-winning building on the Aylesbury Estate in the heart of Walworth, SE17. Pupils come from diverse and sometimes challenging backgrounds and we nurture them to be confident young people with a well-developed sense of social responsibility.

Our wonderful children are bursting with curiosity and creativity. On their journey through the school, we work to develop compassion and emotional intelligence as well as academic attainment, and to enable all children to achieve their personal best in all areas of school life. Fostering an environment in which children feel safe, cared for and respected underpins this success.

We are proud of our extraordinarily talented and committed staff and believe that their professional development and continued well-being are paramount. Our Leadership structure and belief in giving responsibility to individuals creates a strong and supportive environment within which individuals can flourish and grow.

In a fast-changing environment locally, nationally and globally, our new Headteacher will need to be innovative and adaptable. Creating and steering a vision for the next decade will be an exciting challenge and the successful candidate will need to be a brilliant communicator – visible and approachable, flexible and persuasive, gritty and determined. Of course, a great sense of humour would also be appreciated!

Please check out our website at www.michaelfaradayschool.co.uk for a taste of our school.  However, the best way to find out about us is to see for yourself: we strongly encourage you to arrange to visit – appropriate Covid-19 precautions will be in place.
