Job overview
Hillside School is a highly successful school for pupils with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties (roll: 72 pupils aged from 3 to 19). The school serves a wide catchment area covering the whole of south west Suffolk, is well embedded in the local community and has strong links to neighbouring schools. We are committed to providing a stimulating, happy and supportive environment in which every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to lead as full and independent a life as possible.
Required from September 2016, on the retirement of our Headteacher, the governors invite applications from candidates with drive and imagination, as well as excellent leadership and management skills to build on the many outstanding strengths of the school.
In January 2014, Hillside School was described by Ofsted, for the third consecutive time, as outstanding in all four categories:
- achievement of pupils
- quality of teaching
- behaviour and safety of pupils
- leadership and management; stating that: "Complacency is not an option at Hillside" and that "There is a sense of shared responsibility that is intrinsic in the fabric of the school."
