The trustees of Bohunt Education Trust (BET) seek a new Head for this unique, supportive and dynamic learning community which is the newest member of the successful Bohunt family of schools.

Situated across four campuses on the edge of the picturesque South Downs National Park, Steyning Grammar School has many exceptional features. It was founded more than 400 years ago, is one of the largest schools in the country and is home to 120 boarders from more than 30 countries. The school has a Christian ethos, a global outlook and a commitment to innovation in an exceptional learning environment.

The successful candidate will be an experienced senior leader (existing headteacher or outstanding deputy) with commitment, drive, enthusiasm and a proven record of raising standards and improving student outcomes who could steer this extraordinary day and boarding school to even greater success.

The next Head of Steyning Grammar School will have:  

  • a compelling vision for education, excellent leadership, communication and personal skills  
  • high visibility and the ability to create an aspirational culture within which all students are empowered to become the best version of themselves  
  • the ability to encourage everyone to engage with and build on the school’s strengths in character education, promoting a full and inspiring co-curricular provision and further developing outdoor education opportunities for every student  
  • the skills to set challenging goals for young people and the ability to motivate the community to achieve them.
