Job overview
Westbury CofE Junior school wishes to appoint an inspiring Headteacher with strong values, a clear vision for the school and a passion for learning. Westbury Junior School is a vibrant school set in the West Wiltshire town of Westbury on the Northeastern edge of Salisbury Plain. The town is overlooked by the iconic White Horse and is close to the city of Bath. The school sits in the heart of an established housing estate and our partner infant school is on a neighbouring site. The area is one of significant deprivation in relation to national indicators. As a consequence we endeavour to provide opportunities and open doors that might ordinarily be closed to some of our pupils. A high proportion of our children are eligible for pupil premium funding, and we have a significantly higher than average percentage of pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities.
The school is part of a growing community, with a range of events taking place throughout the year. As a Church of England school, the school works hard to maintain links with All Saints Church which is situated in the heart of the town. Westbury railway station is an important junction on the network, forming good links with towns and cities further afield.
All about the role:
We are seeking an inspirational, dynamic and creative leader to lead us in the next stage of our development. We are a happy, friendly and welcoming school with a highly committed staff and a dedicated governing body. The ideal candidate will be able to evidence recent teaching and learning experience across the primary age range, will be skilled at leading and creating a stimulating environment that allows every child to achieve their potential. The newly appointed Headteacher will be one who is aware of the starting point of so many of our children in our care and will be able to demonstrate how a curriculum can be tailored to support the development of our pupils. The successful candidate will be a sincere and strong team player, working closely with all members of the school staff. The candidate will recognise the importance of maintaining a strong partnership with parents and the local community, including the church.
At Westbury CofE Junior school we are proud of our resource base which aims to enable children with a wide range of SEND needs to reach their full potential. As well as being a visible, committed and dedicated leader, we are also looking for someone who nurture positive and caring relationships with all our children.

- Is nurturing, passionate, compassionate, approachable and resilient;
- Is committed to upholding the school’s Christian values which are at the heart of our school;
- Is committed to maintaining and developing our school in partnership with all stakeholders;
- can work alongside other local Headteachers to learn, improve and share practice.
We can offer you a lively school with:

- A committed and hard-working staff team who strive to enable the children to be the very best version of themselves;
- A welcoming inclusive school with a positive and caring environment with the desire to improve further;
