Job overview

Notton House is a Bristol residential special Academy based near Chippenham, Wiltshire, which caters for up to 50 boys aged 8-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and/or ASC/SLCN.

The Academy is a key part of Bristol’s provision for pupils with SEMH and is the only residential Academy. The Academy is well established and was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2015 and ‘Requires Improvement’ by Care Ofsted in February, 2018. We have a skilled, committed, caring staff and the active support of the Academy Council and the Learn@ Multi-Academy Trust.

You will need to be a dynamic, committed leader who will provide positive leadership and direction for the Academy and embrace the ethos and values which have their heart, welfare, wellbeing and educational achievement of our pupils.

We are looking for a Head Teacher who:

  • Will enthusiatically take on the opportunties and chanllenges of this post;
  • Is passionate about learning, teaching and personal, social development within a Residential setting;
  • Recognises and valies the opportinities provided by an SEMH Residential Academy;
  • Has proven experience of using a wide range of interventions for effective management of challenging behaviour

We are part of a Bristol based specialist Multi-Academy Trust, Learn@, with similar partner Academies and PRU’s in Bristol.  The Academy is going through a period of growth and development with additional new posts currently being advertised. So this is an exciting time to take on the leadership of the Academy.
