Job overview

We are looking for a Headteacher who will share our values and visions for the future of Abbeyfield, someone who exudes optimism, discipline, and above all, hard work. We have high expectations of our students and staff and would expect you to lead by example.

It is an exciting time to join our learning community as we recognise the significant potential ahead.  Our new leader will be highly motivated and capable of driving Abbeyfield School forward.

You will bring a track-record of successful leadership (as either an aspiring or current Headteacher) and your commitment to driving outcomes for all young people will be clear. Working closely with our Governing Body, you will foster and grow links with our local community, to share the exceptional work we do each day.

An acute awareness of the changing national perspective is a given, as is the capability to provide strong and clear direction to staff, students, parents and our community.

Development opportunities offered to staff are strong and it is expected that you will further develop a confident team of practitioners and leaders at all levels. The diverse experience of our newly configured senior leadership team will provide great potential to grow your own expertise.

Beyond aptitude, we are looking for a Headteacher who is a strong cultural fit. We pursue excellence in all that we do, and our core values of Innovation, Determination, Integrity and Drive are promoted through the experience we offer to all students.

Of course, there will be many challenges to face along the way, but your mission will be to face these obstacles head-on and continue our pursuit for excellence.

Headteacher: Mr Norgrove

Values and vision

Abbeyfield School wants students to achieve their potential in a welcoming and inspiring learning environment. It follows four core values: innovation, determination, integrity and drive. The well-being of pupils is essential to the school and it is committed to ensuring that all students thrive as self-assured and confident young adults. Abbeyfield School offers a range of extra-curricular activities for pupils to get involved in, ranging from sports to music lessons, enabling them to pursue their hobbies and interests and nurture talents.

Ofsted

“Teachers generally adapt tasks well to match students’ capabilities. For example, in an outstanding Year 11 history lesson on developing a radio broadcast about the Coventry Blitz, lower-attaining students in a mixed-ability class were able to play a full part in a challenging activity because materials had been tailored to suit their needs. Through such effective teaching, students known to be eligible for the pupil premium, disabled students and those with special educational needs are closing the gap in progress with other groups”.
