Headteacher

Wirral Hospitals’ School provides education for children and young people of primary and secondary school age who cannot attend mainstream school for medical reasons, including and predominantly, emotional and mental health.

Working in Arrowe Park Hospital and in the community at Joseph Paxton Campus, we pride ourselves on the high standard of personalised education delivered to vulnerable children who would otherwise be excluded through no fault of their own. The school has considerable strengths. Ofsted judged us as Outstanding. Ofsted recognised that “SMSC is a strength of the school and prepares students very well for adult life in the wider world.” Pupils told Ofsted “We feel safe at school and receive an educational hug when we are here.”

Working closely with the families of pupils and several partner agencies, this school puts pupils first and has a vision of education as being far more than just academic results.

Following the promotion of the current Headteacher, the Governors are seeking to appoint someone to lead the school to further develop the outstanding provision with a vision to move the school forward.

We wish to appoint a headteacher who is:

• Strategic and creative so translating innovative ideas into outstanding practice
• A strong and dynamic leader who is able to work positively and proactively with pupils, parents, staff, governors and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for pupils
• An enthusiastic and good communicator with a sense of fun
• Someone who enjoys working with pupils
