Headteacher

The Interim Executive Board, supported by Wirral’s Department for Children’s Services, are seeking to appoint a Headteacher at The Observatory School from 1st September 2017 or as soon after as practical. We are a 55 place Special School for students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The school takes both male and female pupils of secondary school age and is currently full. We are keen to appoint a determined person who is a resilient, kind professional with high expectations of all those around them and high aspirations for the pupils in their care. 

You will: 

• Have experience of leading and managing schools for pupils with complex SEMH needs and Autism Spectrum Conditions 
• Have extensive experience of working in special education settings where education and therapy teams work together well  
• Be able to demonstrable good judgement, emotional intelligence, resilience, reliability and integrity with strong interpersonal skills 
• Be an inspirational leader who can shape and deliver our strategy 
• Have the passion and energy to raise the level of achievement and outcomes for all our students 
• Be robust in meeting the challenges of a changing educational landscape and increasingly complex needs 
• Build strong relationships with all our stakeholders and the outside world
