 Are you able to transform our community school to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential. Ysgol Bryn Alyn is a friendly, supportive and caring 11 – 16 Comprehensive school in the village of Gwersyllt, Wrexham. It is situated 14 miles south of Chester, close to Llangollen and the beautiful Dee valley and within easy travelling distance of North West England, Shropshire and North Wales.

The school has a strong community ethos with enthusiastic students, innovative, hard-working staff and a supportive and ambitious Governing Body. 

The Governors are seeking to appoint a Headteacher who will lead us through the challenges ahead, ensuring our school continuously improves. Our challenge is to build on the success of the school in attracting pupils from local primary schools whilst reversing the trend of underachievement in examination results.

We wish to appoint an inspirational, dedicated and caring leader who will:  

- demonstrate a clear strategic vision;

- have a highly visible and approachable presence;

- ensure a shared commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;

Situated in Gwersyllt, Wrexham, Ysgol Bryn Alyn is a community secondary day school for children between the ages of 11 and 16. It educates around 702 girls and boys at present. Students come from primarily seven local primary schools. This includes Gwersyllt Junior, Ysgol Heulfan, St. Mary’s, New Broughton, Brymbo, Tanyfron C.P., Black Lane C.P, Pentre Broughton and Brynteg C.P. School. Students are taught through the medium of English. 

Over the past 10 years the site has been modernised with the building of a new Science block. September 2017 saw the opening of a brand new teaching and reception area in line with the 21st Century Schools programme.
