Job overview

Headteacher with gusto to lead an inclusive school in the beautiful, historic city of York. St Paul’s is a unique primary school where city children acquire village memories. This successful and vibrant primary, where the retiring Headteacher knows every child’s name, needs an equally committed successor.

St Paul’s has a solid ‘Good’ Ofsted rating with further ‘Outstanding’ areas, but that is not the whole picture. From wearing fancy dress at the summer fete to leading collective worship, this role requires a talented, energetic and passionate leader who can build trust and respect from everyone from the children, to the Local Authority, to the school cleaner.

At St Paul’s our young people can discover their talents and realise their potential regardless of aptitude or background, within a positive ethos. We need an inspirational educator to consolidate and build on these achievements with support from our capable, committed and enthusiastic staff and governors.

Join us to be part of this lively primary school and help us to continue to provide an enriched curriculum within a warm Christian ethos, while welcoming all faiths. We have an excellent reputation and relationship with both the local community and neighbouring church, after which the school is named.

This is an exciting time to join and lead our school.

Closing date: Thursday 22 June 2017 at midnight.
Interviews: 11 and 12 July 2017.

Pre-application visits by prospective candidates are strongly encouraged, on Friday 16 June and Monday 19 June. Please book a 40-minute tour between 9.30am and 3pm via the school office on 01904 625240, or email stpauls.primary@york.gov.uk

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is subject to the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009 and as such shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a Disqualification Declaration. Any information supplied will be discussed at interview.
