SGS College have an exciting opportunity for a Sport & Fitness Adult Trainer at our WISE Campus.

The post-holder will be responsible for delivering, developing and supporting a range of education programmes, projects and initiatives that offer supportive physical activity, fitness and health and wellbeing opportunities for hard to reach adults. This will include delivering on the In2Sport programme, a sport education pathway for ex-offenders and individuals overcoming addiction.

Working with a range of external partners, you will aim to provide inclusive and engaging sport and fitness activities to improve the health and wellbeing of adults with complex backgrounds through education programmes. Working in community settings, you will be responsible for the delivery of practical sport sessions, gym and fitness based exercise including educational workshop designed to support individuals to live healthier and fulfilled lifestyles.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver appropriate physical activity sessions for the target audience, this may include people with complex backgrounds, including ex-offenders and former substance users.
  • Plan and deliver appropriate health and wellbeing workshops for the target audience, including topics such as healthy eating, mindfulness and resilience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant partners and stakeholders to enhance the reputation of programmes and initiatives.
  • To ensure the associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken.
  • Liaise with the marketing and PR department to promote programmes and initiatives.
  • Monitor adult learner achievement data to ensure delivery of College KPI’s (80% achievement).


 Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience of promoting and delivering health or physical activity programmes.
  • Experience of building relationships with adults who have complex backgrounds.
  • Excellent and adaptable communication and presentation skills.
  • Good time management, problem-solving and administrative skills.
  • Level 2 qualifications - Fitness Instructor, Coaching, Nutrition.
  • Ability to travel between campuses when required.


Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of healthy eating, physical activity and healthy lifestyles
  • Mental Health Qualification.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience of delivering behaviour change interventions for adults.
  • NGB recognised coaching qualification
