Location: West London – currently operating an agile working policy with two core days (Mon and Weds) in the office

Contract: Permanent 

Pattern: Full Time (standard hours 9am – 5.30pm)

About the role:

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join our Estates Team to provide strategic, operational, and technical advice to the Head of Estates on the development of the Health and Safety compliance management and reporting across the Ark network. 


This role will be responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders have access to robust information allowing for the effective management of compliance within our schools. The successful candidate will design control systems, review, and develop policies and develop guidance documentation to ensure best practice in Estates compliance management. 


Depending on the successful candidate’s experience, over time there might be the opportunity for the postholder to conduct Ark’s Health and Safety audits. 


Key Responsibilities and Duties:  

  • Work with the Regional Facilities Managers and the Head of Estates to ensure that all maintenance activity complies with all relevant statutory and regulatory H&S requirements
  • Support the management of Ark’s statutory compliance through direct control of the monitoring and auditing activities of our independent consultants and by the management and maintenance of Ark’s CAFM system
  • Develop and maintain the Estates reporting and audit process including the generation of all regularly required reports for key stakeholders, including schools, the Ark Schools Board and the Ark Management Team;
  • Owning the management and development of the Ark’s CAFM system (Every) to ensure this aligns with the Ark approach to compliance management and reporting 
  • Work with other teams to identify compliance gaps, developing processes and procedures to address these
  • Complying with HSE / and other relevant body requirements and keep up to date with changes
  • Undertaking such training and study as required in order to stay abreast of legislation and developments relevant to the post


Key Requirements:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (essential) 
  • 2-3 years of compliance management experience 
  • Experience of using CAFM system(s) (essential)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform with limited supervision
  • Excellent IT skills with specific skill in using Microsoft Office applications especially MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Team player, with ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including demanding internal clients
  • Motivation to continually improve standards and achieve excellence above norms
  • This candidate must be committed to equality and diversity in the workplace
