Job overview

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a high-calibre, Health & Safety specialist to join its Governance & Compliance Committee. The H&S Governor would be a member of the Governance & Compliance Committee which has responsibility for integrating and co-ordinating all aspects of non-financial corporate governance, legal and regulatory compliance and risk management. This remit includes Health & Safety, upon which the H&S Governor would be expected to lead and provide recommendations to the full Governing Body on such matters.  The Health & Safety Governor would be invited to attend termly Health & Safety meetings with the Senior Leadership team.

This may be your first board appointment, but you will need experience as a strategic leader with commercial understanding. The Governing Body benefits from recruiting individuals with a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experiences; therefore, experience of Operations, Facilities or Compliance that has Health & Safety responsibilities would be beneficial.


Hours: This will vary with the cycle of the school year, but it is anticipated to equate to approximately 3-4 days per term, including both school time and evening engagements

The hours will likely be split into several activities across the period.

 

Salary: This is a voluntary and unpaid appointment with expenses paid.
