Health and Social Care Teacher

We are seeking to appoint a talented and inspirational teacher of Health and Social Care who will have the opportunity to join the Social Science Department in a successful and well-respected school with a large 6th Form.  This role would be suitable for an NQT or a teacher with experience.

The successful candidate will join a well-resourced and vibrant Social Science Department which is housed in its own teaching block with excellent facilities.  This is a great opportunity to develop teaching skills within a friendly, well qualified and organised department which achieves excellent results. Social Sciences subjects have a large uptake at both GCSE and A Level.

The Department is effectively run and has 1 Psychology and 3 Sociology specialists.  As well as teaching Health and Social Care you may be asked to teach either Sociology or Psychology depending on the needs of the curriculum.  Staff are encouraged to share ideas regularly and there is a supportive atmosphere between members of the department.  The department has its own classrooms, all of which are well equipped and each room has an interactive whiteboard. Staff are encouraged to use these resources effectively and imaginatively. There is frequent support provided through training and the sharing of good practice.

For Health and Social Care, we follow the Edexcel specification, GCSE Sociology following the Eduqas specification and A Level Sociology and Psychology following the AQA specification Health and Social Care is a new subject that has been added to the curriculum at KS5 and is being offered for the first time in September 2019 at KS4.  The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to make a real impact with regards to this subject.
