The Xiehe Education Group

SUIS Qingpu Campus is one of 13 campuses in the Xiehe Education Group, one of China’s largest education groups. ‘Exploring and developing together through the integration of Eastern and Western cultures’ is at the core of a Xiehe education, and all our students make progress together based on mutual respect and cooperation in order to develop as independent learners and global citizens. Our core values provide the foundation for our teachers and staff to be grounded in our principle of ‘Unity in diversity, innovation through collaboration’, to cooperate with team members from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, to work through differences by seeking common ground on the basis of mutual respect and tolerance, and to learn from each other’s strengths with open minds.

In addition, our core values encourage us to advance with the times so as to contribute to a more efficient and innovative education team. Since its establishment in 1993, the Xiehe Education Group has always adhered to the student-oriented concept of ‘East Meets West’ with a development strategy of collaborative school leadership and management driven by educational research. We provide our students with a comprehensive 15-year education system from kindergarten through to senior high school, dedicated to their all-round and sustainable development, both mentally and physically.

Shanghai United International School Qingpu Campus (SUIS Qingpu Campus)

Founded in August 2019, Shanghai United International School (SUIS) offers students a creative, challenging and rewarding learning experience. Students aged 6 to 18 years old are welcomed into our progressive and internationally-minded school community. We offer a distinctive bilingual, blended learning programme leading to the International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced Level (A Level) curricula.

Located in the Qingpu District of Shanghai, the school has world class facilities that complement our innovative approach to education.

Our staff are from over 10 different countries with significant numbers of colleagues coming from China, the UK, Ireland and North America.

About teaching at SUIS

We’ll expect you to set and maintain high expectations for our students, to design lessons that engage students and promote active learning, and to create a learning culture where students develop a growth mindset. An observer of your classroom environment will see evidence of respect, students who are risk takers and students who learn through questioning and discussion.

About you

You are open-minded and tolerant. You are able to adapt quickly to change, to our school’s culture and to a fast-paced international environment. You will possess a university degree, a recognized teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective of your own teaching and student progress and outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise students’ levels of achievement.

Eager to collaborate, to share your experiences and listen to others, you use your expertise to build strong relationships with parents, students and colleagues.

About the role

In our Primary and Middle School, we offer our students an established but innovative ‘East Meets West’ education. This means that although our ‘East Meets West’ curriculum is in place, we are always innovating and improving it to keep pace with ongoing changes to China’s education system and the skills needed by our students to be successful in this 21st Century. This in turn means that we need our Primary and Middle School teachers to not only deliver our curriculum, but to be reflective, collaborative and innovative.

In our High School, we offer the IGCSE and A Level curricula. As our students are English Language Learners, our High School teachers need to ‘wear two hats’. That is, not only do we require our high school teachers to be experts in their respective disciplines, but also to be teachers of the English language, as each discipline will have its own vocabulary and unique demands on students’ abilities.

With 13 campuses across China, you become part of a big family when you join Shanghai United International School. Within our family, there will be many opportunities for you to learn, to grow, to experience Chinese culture, and to work with colleagues from all over the world. You also become an integral part of our journey in developing a dynamic, innovative, research-based ‘East Meet West’ international education that serves to prepare our students for future success. Finally, we offer unique career and development opportunities that come with being part of a large education group.
