High School Principal

The Jerusalem American School is a private, co-educational K3-12 institution offering a college preparatory program for American, Palestinian, Israeli and international universities. The school, located in Beit Hanina, East Jerusalem, was established in 1988 to meet the needs of families seeking quality education in the English language. The school currently has more than 900 students enrolled and employs a faculty and staff of approximately 80.

The mission of the Jerusalem American School is to provide a positive environment where students learn to value character and peace, are academically prepared and socially confident to succeed in life. We develop and integrate students’ intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual sides so that they can lead fulfilling lives.

Our academic goal is excellence, and we expect each student to work to the best of his or her ability. We desire each student to take pride in his/her workmanship and to do so with zeal. We work to instill these attitudes in every student. It is accredited with the United States National Accreditation Board as well as internationally. Our challenging curriculum and global extra-curricular opportunities develop strong graduates. Currently, our alumni are attending top-tier universities across the globe with many working on not only their Bachelors but also their Masters and Doctoral degrees.

Core responsibilities:

  • Develop the school’s instructional strategic plan and ensure its execution.
  • Be the visible leader of the school by overseeing and providing communication to families, students, and personnel, and maintaining a leading presence at school events.
  • Meet targets for overall school achievement and academic progress of students.
  • Monitor and track trends in student performance across all academic areas.
  • Work directly with staff to continually improve student achievement.
  • Create and sustain a culture of excellence among school staff, student discipline, classroom management, assessment.
  • Manage school facilities and school-based budget and spearhead fund raising from potential donors and supporters. 


Personnel management and development qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree or higher in Education or related field (strongly preferred)
  • Minimum three years of teaching experience (required)
  • Minimum two years of school leadership or management experience (strongly preferred)
  • Proven track record of academic progress of students under his/her leadership
