Foshan EtonHouse International School

The Foshan EtonHouse International School (FEIS) is a K-12 school running an IB (International Baccaleaurate) inspired curriculum, catered to foreign children (non mainland-Chinese) or children with at least one parent holding a foreign passport.

The campus is located in Nanhai district, Foshan city, Guangdong province. It is part of the Nanhai Business City (NBC), also known as the Huanan Singapore City. The campus spans 40,000 sqm with 25,000 sqm of built-in space. Facilities include a swimming pool, a library offering the largest number of English children’s books in Foshan, an indoor gym and basketball court, outdoor track and soccer field, specialist arts studios, 62 classrooms and dormitories that can house 120 students.

The Pre-School and Elementary curriculum is inspired by the child-focused IB approach to learning via exploration and investigation of themes. The IB approach aims to develop students through dynamic cycles of inquiry, action and reflection. As students progress to middle school and high school, they will be exposed to the academically rigorous iGCSE curriculum and graduate with the iGCSE certification.

The international school opened on 1 Sep 2016. Enrolment will continue throughout the entire school year.

High School Vice Principal and Head of Boarding

The High School Vice Principal /Head of Boarding will be responsible in leading the High School and Boarding teams in the execution of professional duties and responsibilities to meet the following:

Job Role & Responsibilities

Documentation

• Ensure that publications, curricular and examination requirements pertaining to the Cambridge pre – A level and A level courses of study are ordered, received, reviewed and developed,  in-line with the needs of all pupils.
• Establish and review the school’s A and AS level curriculum guidelines, policy and practice.
• Undertake the role of Examinations Officer for the initial stages of the High School’s opening and development.
• Participate in the formation of the school‘s Development Plan and the applications for CIE (Cambridge).
• Undertake, devise and monitor safety and protection procedures for the High School Boarding facility in consultation with the Principal.
• Create time-tables, schedules, policies and procedures for the smooth running and on-going development of the High School and its Boarding facility.

Professional Development

• Ensure all staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities and make recommendations regarding professional development opportunities on and off campus.
• Support teachers in making connections and facilitating visits to other  Cambridge educational establishments in China as part of their professional development.
• Monitor and review both teaching and non- teaching staff performance related to High School and Boarding programmes.

Resource Management

• Suggest suitable recourses to create, develop and support the implementation of the High School programme.
• Follow all of the recommendations listed by Cambridge pertaining to Secure storage (exams) and planning practical science (set up and monitoring of lab (s)).
• Be responsible for an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management.
• Liaise with the Principal and premises staff on the resourcing and set-up of the new Boarding facility, ready for opening in September 2017.

Communication

• Liaise with Cambridge and the Principal on all matters pertaining to the High School programme.
• Set up systems for communication and collaboration between all High School staff members.
• Conduct parent information sessions.
• Publish articles pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter.
• Circulate all relevant information received from Cambridge.
• Prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation.
• Ensure that all the requirements of CIE (Cambridge) concerning the implementation of the programmes are adhered to.
• Provide outreach to the wider Cambridge community through discussion forums, e-mail and school visits.

Management

• Work closely with the FEIS Principal to promote, develop, enhance and successfully market the school and its programmes.
• Work closely with, and actively support, the Director of Admissions and Marketing and her team.
• Undertake any professional requests made by the Principal for the good of the school.
• Support the Principal on daily operations and staffing matters, as required.
• Assume overall responsibility for daily operations and staffing in the absence of the     Principal.

Job Requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognised University with 6-8 years of direct work experience in international or Chinese International schools.
• Strong knowledge and experience of the A level Cambridge curriculum.
• Experience and knowledge of managing an educational Boarding facility.
• Highly developed intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.  Demonstrated experience in management and leadership is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
• A specialism in science would be an advantage.

Remuneration package includes a competitive salary based on relevant years of teaching experience.  A living allowance which includes housing will be provided alongside with airfare and shipping allowances.  Medical insurance coverage will also be provided.
