We are seeking an extremely well organised, proactive and professional individual to work within the sixth form, directly supporting students in Years 12 and 13. The appointed person will be responsible for leading initiatives related to higher education, apprenticeships and will oversee careers advice, information and guidance at post-16.
You will need to have previous extensive experience and expertise in providing effective higher education, UCAS, and careers guidance, with a comprehensive knowledge of the UK education system, and of post-18 pathways. A candidate who has acted as their school’s centre manager for their UCAS portal, would be the ideal applicant.
Why Chestnut Grove?
Our staff’s well-being and morale is of the utmost importance to us. We offer a comprehensive professional development programme, through the Wandle Learning Partnership which enables staff to progress professionally; many middle and senior leaders started at the school as (NQTs) ECTs. We also have ties with first-class external providers and speakers (Equaliteach, Football Beyond Borders, Imperial College, Craig Barton, Teacher Development Trust, UCL, to name but a few recent liaisons).
We promote workload reduction strategies, Diversity, Inclusion and Equality, staff autonomy and Support Staff Council (to ensure our support staff’s needs are heard and met).
We offer a broad Wellbeing Program, which includes:
- Annual 'Nike Day': a whole day of pampering with yoga, martial arts, art therapy, stress reduction, meditation workshops and pastoral CPD at Nike HQ
- Reflective Practice: teachers are the only profession that deals with trauma without supervision - but not at Chestnut Grove! We provide fortnightly RP sessions in which teachers can reflect and collectively problem-solve in order to develop coping strategies and improve their practice.
- Weekly yoga sessions
- Weekly staff fitness & dance session.
- Regular staff football, badminton and other sports staff elect to do
In 2019 we were awarded the Platinum Quality Mark for Professional Development and we also received the Healthy Workplace Achievement award from the Mayor of London.
As the lead partner in the Wandle Learning Partnership we are able to offer exceptional opportunities for professional development.

This has enabled a record number of our students to gain entry into the University of their choice, with many heading off to Russell Group universities including Oxbridge.
When students join Chestnut Grove they become part of a vibrant and cohesive community where the child’s social development is valued just as much as his or her academic development.
Chestnut Grove has undergone a multi-million pound building programme which has provided staff and students with modern buildings and facilities.
We are proud to be a part of the Wandle Learning Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust that builds on the success of the Wandle Learning Partnership, of which we are the lead strategic partner with Chesterton Primary School.
