Salary – SCP 18-25 (£20,338 – £24,037)

Permanent x 1, Fixed Term x 1 (31/07/2023)

32 hours per week

(8.45am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday plus 1 hour training each Monday 3.20pm to 4.20pm)

As one of our Higher Learning Support Assistants based at Co-op Academy Southfield, you'll find the job rewarding as you will help make a difference to the lives of young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.     

·      To make decisions using your own initiative where appropriate within established working practices and procedures

  • To maintain the confidential nature of information relating to the provision, school, its students, parents and carers

·      Carry out observations in order to assess student needs and contribute to target setting, progression and tracking. Use this information to contribute to multi-agency plans including EHC plans.

·      Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom and community settings

·      Record progress and achievement in lessons/activities systematically and providing evidence of range and level of progress and attainment

 

It is essential you have experience of working with young people with special educational needs or disabilities. Experience of behaviour management or physical intervention is also essential.

You’ll have a Higher Learning Teaching Assistant Status or an equivalent qualification, and be willing to learn a range of new skills. If you meet these criteria and have good communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

Formal training will be provided where necessary in specialist strategies, moving and handling, medical interventions, safeguarding, PREVENT, GDPR and Team Teach (de-escalation and physical intervention to support challenging behaviour).

We are Co-op Academy Southfield. Co-op Academy Southfield is a special secondary academy in Bradford, graded as 'good with outstanding features' by Ofsted.

Co-op Academy Southfield provides education for students aged 11 to 19 years with clearly identified special educational needs who have an Education Health and Care Plan.

With 310 students and over 200 staff the school is one of the larger special schools in the country. We have high aspirations for our students which means that we have to have high expectations of all of our staff.  A willingness  to communicate, collaborate and co-operate is essential if we are to get this right for our students and their families.

We are co-located in a purpose-built building with Co-op Academy Grange, a mainstream secondary school. Our sixth form provision is housed across Haycliffe Lane on a smaller site. It offers specialist education and training to provide pathways to our students for life after school.
