Our School

Whitchurch C.E. Juniors is a voluntary controlled school with a purpose-built, out-of-school club.  It is situated in the small market town of  Whitchurch in the North of Shropshire.

There are approximately 315 children on roll. The children enjoy coming to school as there is a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere in which to work.

We have a range of extra curricular clubs and a team of talented and dedicated staff.

There are sixteen classrooms, each very different in style and shape; a large hall, a dining room and library. A lift has been fitted in the main building to allow disabled access.

Outdoor facilities include a quiet courtyard, three playgrounds, an extensive sports field, a quiet, Japanese-style garden and  a wildlife area. There are seating areas for pupils both on the field and playgrounds plus shady areas when the weather is hot.

Our School Aims

  • Set high expectations, which seek to raise standards, encouraging children to challenge themselves at all times to enable them to reach their full potential.
  • Provide an excellent education, both academic and social, in a Christian context for all our children.
  • Develop in all pupils an understanding of the Christian faith as well as an understanding of other world faiths, cultures and customs.
  • Express the spiritual dimension of life through the Christian faith, other religious beliefs and through recognition of the spiritual nature of mankind.
  • Encourage the appreciation of aesthetic and spiritual values.
  • Provide a secure and caring environment in which children can develop the independence and confidence to face new challenges positively.
  • Provide a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all children through differentiated activities.
  • Provide an atmosphere of trust and consideration in which children learn to be responsible and tolerant, respecting others and developing good relationships through work and play.
  • Encourage children to take care of their surroundings and local environment.
  • Work with families in the intellectual, social and emotional development of their children and promote a safe and healthy lifestyle.
