Vision for Education are urgently seeking a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to work in an SEND setting in Barnsley. This role is on a time long term basis until the end of the academic year, with the possibility to continue into 2021/2022.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to join a supportive and friendly team, whilst supporting and inspiring young people with a broad spectrum of SEND.  

The role

As HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) you will be supporting the class teacher in both teaching and the guidance of other classroom teaching assistants. The children that you will be working with are KS2 age but will have a variety of needs and abilities. SEND may include but not be limited to ASD, SLD, MLD, Physical and Medical needs, sensory needs, and related behavioural needs.

Starting in May 2021 this role requires full time availability Monday to Friday and will continue until at least July 2021.

The school

This is a large SEND school that caters for a broad spectrum of needs. Based in Barnsley, it is also easily accessible from Rotherham, Sheffield and Huddersfield.

Requirements

To be considered for the HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) position, you will:

• Hold a level 4 Teaching assistant qualification or equivalent

• Have previous experience of supporting SEND is highly desirable but not essential

• At least 3 months experience as a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) is essential

• Available from May 2021 on a full time basis is essential

• Hold an enhanced DBS which is registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one

• References to cover the last 2 years of employment is essential
