St Peter’s Preparatory School, Lympstone, is one of the most successful and forward-looking independent preparatory schools in the South West, awarded Excellent in all categories in a recent ISI Inspection (March 2020), and we pride ourselves on outstanding learning support.  

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to provide support to teaching staff in the academic development and pastoral care of individual children or groups of children, including SEND pupils, from Nursery to Year 8.  The role holder will be expected to teach whole classes in accordance with teacher-set plans as required. 

We are looking for someone with a positive and proactive approach, with a love and enthusiasm towards the education of children.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

● Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent

● Experience of working as an HLTA with Primary-aged children

● Excellent written and verbal communication, with both children and adults

● Strong organisational skills, including prioritisation and finishing tasks to completion

● Effective team-working, demonstrating loyalty and support to colleagues

● Resilience and flexibility to manage diverse and sometimes conflicting demands

The role is term-time only, working 21 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday 08:45-16:15 with a 30-minute unpaid break.  The annual salary is £8,847 and will be paid in twelve equal monthly instalments.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

About St Peter's Preparatory School

St Peter’s School is an independent preparatory day and weekly boarding school for around 290 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 13. Set in 28 beautiful acres overlooking the Exe Estuary, we offer a full and broad curriculum right from the start.  We pride ourselves on our excellent pastoral care, experienced and committed teaching staff and small class sizes.

Our Early Years education is second to none, teaching our youngest pupils to learn through play, and we participate in the government funding scheme. We offer weekly and flexi boarding for children aged 7 to 13 in a Boarding House which is a home from home, with a warm family atmosphere.

St Peter’s operates five bus services covering Exeter, East Devon and The Teign Valley.  We use our own 9-seater Tourneos and 17-seater vehicles and they are driven by St Peter’s employees.
