Atlantic Academy Portland has already made great waves in transforming the education of the students in Portland in the last 2 years,  leading the way in the highest standards of education.  We are looking for somebody to join our amazing journey and be proud of the substantial impact they make to the outcomes and aspirations for our students.

Last year we were most improved School in the county for progress, moving from a P8 score of 0.19  to 0.40  as Atlantic. In Primary 70% of students have achieved in Reading, Writing and Maths.  Individual groups of students performed extremely well, SEN students are making progress well above national expectations.  

Atlantic Academy Portland is gaining a local and national reputation for rapid sustained improvement. 

The Academy is located in stunning buildings, having benefited from a £20 million plus full renovation program. It is situated on the beautiful Isle of Portland, at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, in Dorset. Within easy reach of Weymouth, Dorchester, Yeovil, Poole and Bournemouth. This really is an Academy at the very heart of the community. 

The Academy is sponsored by the Aspirations Academies Trust (www.aspirationsacademies.org) and is a member of one of their three clusters: The South Coast District, which consists of Jewell Academy Bournemouth (Primary), Ocean Academy Poole (Junior), Magna Academy Poole (Secondary) and most recently Budmouth Academy (Secondary) and Bovington Academy (Primary)

Here at Atlantic Academy Portland, we are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, professional and team orientated person. We need a High Level Teaching Assistant that understands and can meet the needs of  specific children. With and without Special Educational Needs and Disabilities(SEND) and experience of nurture provision would be desirable.

Specifically we are looking for someone who:

  • Who has experience of working with and supporting children with SEND perhaps with some specific skill sets and qualifications;
  • Is naturally cheerful and optimistic, with evidence of the positive contribution that you can bring to our team;
  • Is hardworking, dedicated, committed to inclusion with a child-orientated outlook.
  • Wants to be valued, train further and help us make a difference.

We are looking to appoint a candidate that puts children first, mitigates barriers to learning, has a can-do approach and will help an individual and individuals make academic progress.
