Temporary contract to cover maternity leave

Danecourt is part of the Maritime Multi-Academy Trust, an innovative partnership of Academies in Greenwich, Kent & Medway. Our academies transform through collaboration and an entrepreneurial curriculum which equips children with life skills.

Danecourt is a special school catering for primary aged children who have special educational needs. The school caters for children with a wide breadth of need including complex learning difficulties, autism and social emotional mental health needs. We enjoy a range of specialist facilities and additional therapy support along with outdoor learning spaces and sensory play rooms.

At Danecourt our mission is to provide all pupils with a “stimulating learning environment where every individual is valued, respected, safe and successful”. All pupils receive a personalised curriculum tailored to meet their specific needs.

We would like to recuit a HLTA to join our team on a temporary contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate does not have to have their HLTA qualification but will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of leading, at some level, within the classroom.

You will be required to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under the supervision of a qualified teacher. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Passionate about teaching and providing the children at Danecourt with the very best opportunities.
  • Who have high expectations.
  • Who are willing to lead in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Want to learn and develop their understanding and knowledge of all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Are able to manage their work and prioritise tasks.

As an employee of the Maritime Trust you can expect:

*a positive working environment

*national terms and conditions

*tailored programmes of CPD with cross trust development opportunities

*a generous package of staff benefits.

Visits to the school are welcome, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.

More information about the job, school and trust can be found in the attached candidate application pack.

Maritime Academy Trust embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

Please note: we may hold interviews as and when applications are received and we reserve the right to offer to a candidate prior to the closing date. We only accept applications submitted online via the TES website and which are completed before the closing deadline. With this in mind, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Closing date: Friday 17th February

Interviews: TBC

The Trust and its academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post is subject to a successful DBS clearance and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before an appointment is confirmed.

In line with KCSIE 2022 guidance, as part of the shortlisting process, the Trust reserves the right to conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence and to share any pertinent information found concerning a candidate's suitability to work with children with Hiring Managers to be discussed at interview stage.
