Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to start in September 2022.  This is an exciting and exceptional opportunity for candidates with a keen and active interest in music, to become fully involved in class teaching. The role will involve collaborating with teachers in planning and delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities for classes (primarily music). The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.  Candidates will therefore be confident in their abilities to deliver learning and have impact on all pupils as well as promoting, co-ordinating and delivering the music curriculum across the school.  

The post is for 32.5 hours and will primarily include delivering music lessons during PPA and release time as well as supporting teaching and learning across the school.  You will be expected to use your own initiative and plan lessons which are motivating and inspiring for our learners.  PPA time will be provided for this. 

Essential Criteria

Successful Candidates will:

 • Have a keen and active interest in music

• Be able to play the piano, accompanying daily worships and monthly church services.

• Be able to enthuse and inspire children in music

• Have knowledge of planning lessons

• Be able to liaise with external music provision providers

• Lead orchestra and choir clubs as well as organise external wider curriculum opportunities within the community.

• Have high expectations of pupil’s achievement and behaviour.

• Feel comfortable working across the school (Yrs R-6). 

• Work well within a team 

• Be a positive role model for children

Desirable Criteria

• Previous educational experience in a school setting

• Knowledge of Music Curriculum

• Good sense of humour

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 to 15:30 (32.5 hours). Term time only.
