An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the new ASD Resource based at Maiden Erlegh School. This is an excellent opportunity to be a key member in supporting pupils and promoting the school’s Indigo Resource for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, who have associated social, emotional and mental health needs.

Our aim is to ensure that the new Indigo Resource provides the highest standard of education for the students in its care and you will be pivotal in ensuring this. We want to become a Centre of Excellence for the teaching of secondary school aged students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. All students will have Education, Health and Care Plans, and their placement in the resource will be in consultation with the local authority.

We are seeking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting young people on the autistic spectrum. The role will suit someone who can demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to support students across a range of subject areas, and across all secondary age groups. You will have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people.

The successful candidate will:

  • Experience of working with students with special needs, particularly Autism and social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Show a commitment to raising opportunities and progression of our learners and support them in all aspects of their learning both in the resource and in their mainstream lessons.
  • Specialist skills/training in curriculum or learning area e.g. sign language, ICT, EAL.
  • The ability to plan, organise and lead high quality learning activities for individuals and small groups with learning needs.

Our staff are dedicated, talented professionals who go the extra mile for the students because they are committed to helping them realise their dreams, achieve the greatest possible success and overcome any personal challenges. Our goal is to ensure all doors remain open to them in the future. Teachers are passionate and focused on delivering varied and stimulating lessons. Support staff work tirelessly to ensure the school can provide the best education possible.
