We are looking for a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to improve the education and support provided to young people with SEND needs across our Academy. Are you an enthusiastic and caring individual who can make a difference and raise aspirations across all key stages for young people with varied and complex needs then this is the role for you.
This post reports to the SENCOs and Assistant Principal and involves assisting in Individual Education Plans, you will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/ groups or short term for whole classes.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, creative and passionate about nurturing all children into realising their full potential. You will need to be highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and work on your own initiative with minimal supervision. You’ll need to be an excellent communicator at all levels in the school community including with external professionals. You’ll also be patient, reliable, resilient, and calm under pressure and have experience of working or caring for children with Special Education Needs. The role involves taking responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
You will be working with colleagues across the school, so you’ll need to love working with people, have very high standards and be prepared to work hard as part of a team. The post holder will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills to a minimum level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English and ideally already have HLTA accreditation or be working towards this.
