Job overview

At St Christopher’s Independent School, we are looking for a qualified or aspiring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support our Senior Teacher in developing our new school, which is based in a children’s home for six 12-18 year olds who are in care.  

Candidates should:

  • Hold a GCSE in English and Maths of C grade or equivalent. A Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • Have significant experience of working with challenging students.
  • Knowledge or working practice in the education sector and/or schools/academies.
  • Be highly motivated with the ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
  • Have knowledge of different teaching styles to engage challenging students
  • Be able to use your own initiative and act as a positive role model to pupils.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection.
  • Attend relevant training courses as required.

You will be required to support the learning environment and the delivery of lessons both inside and outside the classroom. The ability to support core subjects of English, Maths and Science will be an advantage.
