TEACHER OF HISTORY
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed full time, permanent teacher of History who has a high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best.
The Latymer School is an oversubscribed high achieving, but caring Grammar School in North London. Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.
The History Department is a thriving and well organised department that is impressively resourced to provide a supportive working atmosphere for staff. Curriculums across all of the key stages seek to challenge and stimulate all students and the department has a consistent record of excellent results with 90% of pupils gaining 7/9 in GCSE History. History is also a popular subject at A Level and students continue to excel with 100% achieving A*-C and many going on to read History at university. The department also offers Politics and it is a popular choice at A Level. The ability to teach Politics would be an advantage but would not be essential.
The post commences in September 2018 and applications are welcome from newly qualified teachers able to teach throughout the age and ability range.
If you would like to work in a friendly environment, we would like to hear from you.
Further details are available on the school website.
Closing date for application: 10am Tuesday, 19th March 2019
The Latymer School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment. Any offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory ‘Enhanced with a Barred List Check’ through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
