The position

Candidates should be a well-qualified historian, committed to high standards, interested in using innovative approaches to learning and enthusiastic about promoting international understanding. IBDP or A-level experience is essential. As the amount of history will be smaller than a full timetable, the ability to offer another subject would be a distinct advantage (EAL, PSE or an additional language would be particularly welcome). 

Interviews will be held via skype with the MYP Coordinator and the Principal.


Essential characteristics: 


-      to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification; 


-      to have had recent experience teaching the subject within the 11-18 age range; 


-      to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables work in Italy. 


-     to be enthusiastic and passionate teachers/leaders. A love of the subject and the ability to convey this successfully to students is essential.

The School:

The International School of Modena was founded in 1998 and caters for over 240 students with approximately 40 nationalities.  Our present campus in Montale, just outside of Modena, opened in 2007 and aims to facilitate meaningful education, based on high standards and inquiry-based learning within an international context. Our programmes provide each student with opportunities to explore, inquire and develop confidence, as we strive to equip students with the skills, knowledge and intercultural understanding necessary for the 21st century. The school is fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate for its Primary, Middle Years and Diploma programmes (see www.ibo.org).

The International School of Modena is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational independent all-through school  in Italy, serving students from the age of 2-18. The all-through school, situated in Montale Rangone, Modena, has approximately 240 students on record.
